Winter semi-formals in Northeastern Pennsylvania run from December through February, and January is the busiest month. It is the same short, dressy dress as homecoming, but the dance is in a Scranton January, the walk from the car is genuinely cold, and that changes what works. Elizabeth's Boutique carries short semi-formal dresses at 724 Cedar Avenue in sizes 000 to 28, on the floor to try on the day you come in.
In this climate a sleeve is the sensible choice rather than a compromise, and long sleeve minis are one of the shapes of 2026. Higher necklines and a little more coverage photograph well in winter light and mean you are not choosing between the dress and a coat all night. If that is what you want, say so when you come in and we will pull the styles that fit the brief, in your size.
The same dress looks like a different season depending on its color. Of the styles above, royal blue and red carry a winter night best, and silver and champagne are the metallics that never look out of season. Pastels like blush and lilac work too, especially with a sleeve or a darker shoe, but they read more like spring. Hold a color near a window when you are here: a gym in January is lit nothing like your phone screen.
If you bought a dress for homecoming, it may well do semi-formal too. The one that survives being worn twice is the cleaner dress, refined sparkle rather than all-over sequins, in a color that is not obviously tied to one season. If you are buying now, buying with both dances in mind is the smart play. Alterations are done in house, so the hem can be fitted to whatever shoe you wear in January, and free layaway holds the dress while you pay it down.

Our semi-formal styles are Juliet, a label sold through independent shops rather than direct to the public. Each dress above carries its style number, so a style you saw on someone else is something you can ask for by number on (570) 354-6149.
